The Coggeshall Community Bus is unique service in that it is run and operated totally by volunteers. The bus provides morning and evening runs to and from Kelvedon railway station, as well as local midday runs to provide an invaluable transport link around Coggeshall. The bus operates on a not-for-profit basis, and is completely self financing. The current air conditioned Mercedes vehicle entered service in September 2017.
To keep passengers better informed of the service, particuarly when the train timetable becomes "problematical", we are currently testing a gps tracking service on the new vehicle, so that you can see exactly where the bus is. The gps location services will be available from the web site by selection the "Bus Tracking" item on the menu. Once the technical gremlins have been fully ironed out, the new service will be made available.
The IPhone app is also being updated, and the new version which will be available in the next few weeks, will also incorporate the live gps tracking information from the bus. Also new to the app, will be a dynamicaly updated service status, for extra information if the service is disrupted for any reason. For those of you with Android phones, fear not, we are currently investigating an Android version of the timetable app, which has proved very popular with Apple IPhone users.
More Volunteers Required
The new bus may be automatic, with all mod cons, but without volunteer drivers it can't operate. If you or someone you know can spare just a few hours per month, to help keep this vital community service running, please contact us firstname.lastname@example.org, orclick HEREfor more information. Driving the bus is very easy, and very enjoyable, just ask one of our current drivers. So come on, give it a try, and help keep the service running.
Old Pound Coins
Please remember. The old pound coins are no longer legal tender, and we can no longer accept them on the bus.
